I finally figured out how to replace the line inside the shaft of the the grooved slot. Of major concern was mating the new line
to the old so that it would pass through the extremely narrow hole. Was fearful that they would separate if forced. Was told at West Marine to remove a small amount of the inner core of the braided line and sew together with waxed dental floss so that there essentially was no increase in diameter at the junction of the new and old line. It worked perfectly with the joint readily passing through the small hole in the slot. I tested the strength of the joint (obviously) before pulling it through. - Charlie Dunn, 7/8/2002
