I received your email yesterday about the new website.  Very good.  I read all the articles, saw all the pictures, and had enough time to visit your personal site.  I got tired looking at all the things you do to balance career, family and pursuits, but also realized that I should get going on some of the things that need to be done.  I should be having an article come out in the next Mainsheet about my installation of a Boomkicker.  I was lucky enough this year to visit the Annapolis Sailboat show.  I met the gentleman who is "Mr. Boomkicker".  We struck up a conversation.  I mentioned the article and he mentioned that Jim Holder of "Mainsheet" had already hit him up for an ad!  He conceived the idea, prototyped it and started production on his kitchen table.  It is an excellent example of someone finding their niche market.  I really like my boomkicker.  He sent me a "quick pin" for the mast attachment which speeds up installation when I step the mast.  Also my old myopic eyes don't have to squint to figure out the tiny ring clips.

My wife and I "cruise" if you could call it that.  We trailer to the top of Michigan's Lower Peninsula and spend a week either day sailing or going to the next harbor and returning the next day.  If the waters (or fog) are bad on the Lake Huron side, we go over to Traverse City and the Lelanau (sp?).  We live aboard for that week.  I have fabricated a slide out table and storage in the "vee" (or is it "wee").  Our three children are out of school and wouldn't fit in there anyway.  My next article will be on the topic of conversion for cruising.  I am enclosing a picture to whet your appetite and also one for the picture page.  I'll get the article to you in a couple of days.

I am usually too busy having a good time to take pictures when I sail.  But during the long Michigan winters (you remember, don't you?) it is a comfort to look out the window by my computer and see the boat in the driveway.   Here is a picture from last year.  I wrapped her up this week, but so far no snow has fallen.
